Revolutionising Radiology Training: The Partnership Between LAN 3 and Medality

LAN 3 a Radiology Training Network that encompasses numerous training sites throughout NSW and ACT has partnered with Medality, an online training resource, to revolutionise the educational landscape for radiologists in NSW. This collaboration promises significant benefits, offering a flexible, comprehensive, and accessible training platform that enhances learning opportunities for both trainees and seasoned radiologists.

Dr. Liz Silverstone, the Radiology Training Director at LAN 3, emphasises the extensive range of training material available through Medality. “The available material covers everything from the basics to focused fellowships. The breadth of training available is quite incredible—from key emergency conditions to sub-speciality fellowships such as MR prostate, and the library is ever increasing,” she states. This vast repository ensures that radiologists at all levels can find relevant and up-to-date resources tailored to their needs.

One of the standout features of Medality is its flexibility. Dr. Silverstone highlights the convenience of the platform’s on-demand videos: “The online, on-demand videos mean that education can happen anywhere, even on the train. Much of the material is divided into short segments, just a few minutes long. This approach is ideal for learning and revision and avoids boredom!” This bite-sized content allows radiologists to integrate learning into their busy schedules, making continuous education more manageable and less intrusive.

Medality’s platform also supports a variety of learning styles and needs. According to Dr. Silverstone, “The experience can be unguided, or tasks can be allocated by a supervisor. This is particularly helpful for trainees or International Medical Graduates (IMGs) who have gaps in their knowledge and experience. Our qualified radiologists have used the fellowships to improve their grasp of their chosen subspecialties and gain confidence.” This dual approach ensures that learners can either self-direct their education or receive structured guidance, catering to individual preferences and professional requirements.

The partnership between LAN 3 and Medality represents a significant advancement in radiology training in NSW. By combining LAN 3’s expertise with Medality’s innovative platform, radiologists are empowered to enhance their skills, stay updated with the latest developments in the field, and achieve their professional goals with greater ease and efficiency. This collaboration is poised to set a new standard in radiology education, benefiting practitioners and ultimately improving patient care outcomes.
