GE HealthCare has earned what it says is the first U.S. Food and Drug Administration clearance for a device that facilitates remote patient scanning.

Imaging IT giant Sectra recently announced that it’s partnering with competitor GE HealthCare on a new initiative. The two industry giants are working toward “seamless integration” of their advanced visualisation and enterprise imaging applications. Cardiology and its demanding work environment is the initial focus with other clinical areas to come.

The theme of this year’s annual Radiological Society of North America meeting is “Leading Through Change” and the opening remarks from RSNA president Matthew Mauro, MD, emphasised that, although the shifting nature of radiology work is scary, it’s also a “necessity” to drive improvement.
